BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND COMMUNITY
The Pink Band Movement traveled to Brazil to visit the local organization Empodera, a non-profit based in Rio de Janeiro dedicated to promoting the rights of girls and women through sport. Recognized by UN Women and the International Olympic Committee, Empodera is a national leader in using sports to advance gender equity. As part of the Secure Futures project, we joined forces to support adolescent girls and young mothers through pre- and postnatal workouts, personal development, and the creation of safe community spaces. Our shared mission: to foster growth - physically, mentally and socially.
RAISING STRONGER COMMUNITIES IN RIO
In December 2024, we worked with Empodera in Rio de Janeiro to train a powerful group of 11 women to become community-based coaches. Many of them already work as personal trainers, psychologists, or educators. During an intensive training, they were introduced to the Mom in Balance method and learned how to guide pre- and postnatal workouts using the Pink Band as a tool to support women during and after pregnancy.
The sessions were full of energy, laughter, dancing, and joy - but above all, they reflected the deep dedication of these women. They are passionate about supporting (teen) moms - not only through movement, but also by sharing knowledge about the changing female body, and by building confidence, connection and resilience.
These future coaches are now shaping safe and supportive spaces within their communities, where young mothers can move freely, feel seen, and grow stronger together. At the same time, they are building toward financial independence and becoming powerful role models in their neighborhoods.
Certified MIB trainers
We’re proud to share that all 11 women have also enrolled in the official Mom in Balance Trainer Course. By the summer of 2025, they will be fully certified Mom in Balance Trainers - ready to continue this ripple effect of empowerment with professional tools, knowledge and inspiration.
In partnership with Empodera and Women Win, the Pink Band Movement continues to expand a global wave of empowerment - where sports and sisterhood come together to create real, lasting change.
We envision a global sisterhood where women come together to pursue athletic goals, overcome challenges, and uplift one another. Through our collective efforts, we aim to break down barriers, promote inclusivity and create opportunities for women to thrive, both on and off the field.
The Secure Futures project, in collaboration with Women Win and VAP, empowers women in Kenya through the transformative power of sports. By fostering physical strength and a resilient mindset, we’re helping women build brighter futures together.
